“Come Paride vezzoso” November 20, 2007

Until I saw this clip I think Falstaff was the only comic role I’d ever seen Tito Gobbi portray.
From a 1946 movie, the young Gobbi as Sergeant Belcore in Gaetano Donizetti’s L’Elisir D’Amore, the miles gloriosus who compares himself to Paris of the Iliad as he woos the fair Adina, (Nelly Corradi) as her friends (including Gina Lollobrigida) fawn over him and the jealous Nemorino (Gino Sinimberghi) looks on. Conductor Giuseppe Morelli.
