Dishonored Lady (1947) was the second of two movies that Hedy Lamarr made for her production company, Mars Film Corporation. It was also the only movie she made with her third husband, actor John Loder, whom she divorced the year it was released.
Dishonored Lady is very loosely based on the true story of Madeleine Smith, a nineteenth-century Scottish woman accused of murdering a man who was trying to blackmail her into marrying him. Smith’s story was also told in David Lean’s 1950 movie Madeleine.
In all honesty, Hedy Lamarr was a much more interesting person than she was an actress. She’s the lead character of my original screenplay, Eighty-Eight Frequencies.
