The first half of opera’s most famous double bill …
… in the 1953 recording with Maria Callas as Santuzza, Giuseppe di Stefano as Turiddu, Rolando Panerai as Alfio, Anna Maria Canali as Lola and Ebe Ticozzi as Mamma Lucia, with the Teatro alla Scala chorus and orchestra conducted by Tullio Serafin.
With all due respect to La Divina, Santuzza is supposed to be a high mezzo, like Fiorenza Cossotto:
